Pastor Cynthia Cone was Called to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church from Salem Lutheran Church, Fremont, NE. She earned her Masters of Divinity Degree from Luther Seminary, St. Paul MN. and has been ordained 21 years. Pastor Cynthia has been rostered with Lutheran Congregations in Mission For Christ since 2009.
Pastor Cindy and her husband Ron have celebrated 40 years of marriage. Together they have two adult children with families who reside in other states. Pastor Cindy and Ron reside in the Salem Parsonage just West of the Church.
Pastor Cindy has a unique skill set and a diverse theological background that she brings to this ministry. She grew up in the Kansas City, MO area and is working in her second career as a Called Pastor. She has served Churches in Nebraska, Iowa, Arizona and now in Kansas.
David Winquist is a Parish Ministry Associate Lay Pastor within the Salem congregation. David assists Pastor Cindy when called to carry out the worship service. He also carries out visitations with Pastor Cindy and in support of Pastor Cindy to the homebound in the Salem Congregations.
Shirley Polson and Lisa Broxterman serve as organists and pianists for Salem worship services and other events. Shirley has served as Salem organist with the longest tenure and with grace plays the sanctuaries historic Hinner organ. Lisa Broxterman, pianist at the neighboring Mission Covenant church, will be adding her musical talents in our rotation of accompanists.
John Polson serves as the Church Council President, Iris Turnbull serves as Council Secretary, and Larry Swanson serves as General Fund Treasurer for the 2019 term. Pauline Swanson serves as the Church and Pastor's Administrative Assistant.
Salem Lutheran's Property and Improvement Fund is responsible to repairs and improvements to the Church/Parsonage/Facilities. There are also Scholarship and Alter funds that support Church groups, activities and initiatives. The Women of Salem also are active in circles who meet monthly and support activities during the year. The Salem Luther League Youth are active with congregational worship support, an annual ice cream social, and an annual Youthworks service trip. The Salem Cemetery Fund manages cemetery maintenance and repair, cemetery records, and arrangements for interment. The Salem Endowment Fund also supports the Church with various annual offerings.
